Meet the Huron County, Ohio Commissioners

GARY BAUER was born and raised in Norwalk and graduated from Norwalk High School.  He and his wife Mary have been married 44 years and have three children and four grandchildren.  They are active members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

Bauer earned both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees from The Ohio State University and holds the rank of Professor Emeriti from The Ohio State University.  He has been an educator for 38 years, first as a vocational agriculture teacher and then as an extension educator with Ohio State University Extension.  He retired from extension upon his election as County Commissioner.  He served the Norwalk School District as a board of education member for 11 years and the EHOVE Board of Education and has been a 4-H advisor for 39 years.  He is a member of the County Commissioners Association of Ohio Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, 2005 thru 2010, and also the Jobs, Economic Development, Infrastructures Committee, 2005 thru 2010.


MIKE ADELMAN is a life long resident of Huron County and the Village of Monroeville.  Mike and his bride, Melodie, have been married for 39 years and have five children and eight grandchildren.  The Adelman's are graduates of Monroeville High School and each year present an academic scholarship to a graduate in every county high school.  They are also active members of St. Joseph / St. Alphonsus twined parishes.  Before being elected to fill an unexpired term in 2000 and re-elected to full terms as a county commissioner in 2002 and 2006, Mike had been in local government as a councilman for 12 years in Monroeville and was an elected member of the Huron County Fair Board.  He now serves as the 2nd vice-president of the County Commissioners Association of Ohio.  Mike has also worked in radio for over 36 years and is currently a sportscaster at WLKR Radio.


LARRY SILCOX is a life-long resident of Huron County.  He has two children.  He graduated from Norwalk High School and attended The National Training Center of Polygraph Science, and is a Forensic Phychophysiologist.  Larry is a former Huron County Deputy Sheriff, worked for the Ohio Attorney General, was Safety Service Director for the City of Norwalk, and worked in the Engineering Department for the City of Sandusky.  Larry was elected to his second term on November 4, 2008.
