Conducts interactive Interviews to determine initial eligibility for public assistance for all or multiple categories of public assistance programs, (e.g.., Ohio Works First, Food Stamps, and all the Medicaid groups) through home visits or office. Computes applicant’s budgets, verifies all required documentation submitted to support request for public assistance in accordance with public assistance guidelines; approves or denies applications; explains rights and responsibilities to applicants, explains Ohio Works First/ Food Stamp procedures, and other agency services. Processes all intake procedures. Prepares and obtains necessary information for disability determination.

Prepares and maintains case records regarding applicant/recipient’s eligibility status for public assistance programs including address changes, household changes, household composition, assistance needs, resources & income and other necessary entries; prepares notification letters informing recipients of case changes (reduction, termination, no change); assists at hearings upon request and processes necessary paperwork. Processes changes (phone calls/mail) and data alerts in a timely manner. Investigates all complaints concerning lost, stolen or undeliverable public assistance checks, prepares claim paperwork for improper payments. Process all redetermination processes and changes.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent plus one course or six months experience in: interviewing techniques, keyboarding, word processing, customer service techniques, business mathematics, or interviewing techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

BA in Human Services or related field

Starting wage:  $14.64 per hour
