Huron County Engineer’s Office – Mechanic

The Huron County Engineer’s Office is accepting applications for the full-time position of Mechanic.

Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of mechanical equipment in the county highway department.  Employee performs generally skilled equipment repair work. Responsible for the careful and safe operation of a variety of motorized equipment.  This may require being on call 24 hours a day.  Rate of pay will be $25.44 after a 180 day probationary period.

Qualifications for the position are completion of secondary education or equivalent and one (1) to two (2) years of experience working as a professional mechanic; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Applicant must possess a valid State of Ohio Class B CDL or obtained within (6) six months of employment; must maintain insurability under the Engineer’s insurance policy.

Potential candidates must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
